I’m Jo. I’m the Registered Manager of Rockdale House and it will be my pleasure to welcome you to our home.
Rockdale House is Rockdale Village’s on-site 50-bed care home, and we offer the very best nursing and residential care for both permanent and respite stays.
In the last 18 months all of our overall reviews have been 5* (with the exception of one 4* review).

The moment you step into Rockdale House you’ll feel what makes us different to all the other care homes and understand why we love it here. Rockdale House isn’t part of a big, faceless chain. We are an independent one-off, and we pride ourselves on our kindness and personal touches along with our warm, friendly, family atmosphere.

For over 75 years we’ve been enriching the lives of generations of older people from our local community. It’s a history we’re proud of. Everyone on our team is committed to making a difference.
Our nurses are here 24 hours a day.

Comfortable… with a space that’s truly yours.
Our bedrooms are light, bright and spacious, and you can bring your own furniture and furnishings to make it really yours. Many are rooms with a view, with vistas over our award-winning gardens!
Sociable…
Our Edwards Lounge is the hub for all our activities, clubs and entertainers. It’s a great place to catch up with family, friends and your Rockdale neighbours.
... or quiet, if that’s what you prefer
Whatever your mood fancies, we have a space for you. You could read a book in our quiet nooks and smaller lounges, or drink in the sunshine in our patio garden or enjoy some quiet reflection on our rooftop terrace (with its spectacular views over St Nicholas’ Church).
Easy and carefree.
We do our best to make life easy for you. For those who like to spread their wings, the shops and cafes of Sevenoaks High Street are just a short walk away. But for those who don’t, everything you need is also right here in Rockdale House. We have a mobile shop, visiting hairdressers and podiatrists, and regular worship from local churches. You can even enjoy relaxing hand massages from our visiting therapist – all without the effort of putting on your hat and coat!
Fun and stimulating!
Our dedicated Activities & Wellbeing team provide a full range of daily activities, including crafts, exercises and quizzes, that you can take part in (or not, if the mood doesn’t take you). There’s lots of entertainment to enjoy with an array of visiting singers, musicians, dancers, magicians, circus acts, sing-along groups and talks from local historians. We have great friendships with local schools and nurseries whose pupils come in to chat, put on performances and play games.

As part of Rockdale Village, Rockdale House residents can enjoy all of the events and activities put on for our independent-living residents too!
Tasty… with food that’s good for body and soul.
Food’s important – not just for health and nourishment but for our happiness too. Eating dishes that comfort us – and feel comfortable to us – matters.
That’s why Sally R, our Catering Manager, takes time every day to to ask what you want to eat and creating monthly ‘Dishes of The Day’ chosen by residents. Her team of Rockdale Chefs create 3 nourishing and carefully considered home-cooked meals a day, 365 days a year, plus daily freshly baked cakes (Chef Sally W’s lemon drizzle is a firm favourite!).
Rockdale House’s menus feature fish from our Sevenoaks fishmonger and vegetables from our Orpington grocer. All dietary needs are catered for
… with all the benefits of Village life.
As part of Rockdale Village, you are part of the Rockdale community, with similarly-aged, like-minded friends and neighbours both at Rockdale House and throughout Rockdale’s beautiful grounds. You’ll be surprised by how many faces you already know.
Want to visit a Rockdale neighbour…? No problem. We can give you a lift on Rocky, our electric golf buggy!
Fancy joining the independent-living Rockdale Village residents for one of their trips, clubs or activities…? Feel free! All of our events are open to all residents, no matter where you live within the Village.
Open to all...
At Rockdale House our doors are always open for your friends and relatives to visit.
You don’t need to be a Rockdale Village resident to move to Rockdale House. We are open to all applicants, depending on need.
But if you ARE already living in one of our Rockdale apartments, you’ll find the switch to Rockdale House smooth and easy. And you’ll still be surrounded by your Rockdale friends and neighbours, with all the comfort that brings.
Meet Louisa
Louisa is one of our Senior Carers and our longest-serving member of staff. She joined the care team at Rockdale House in the early 1990’s (right) and has stayed with us ever since.
In fact, if you live in Sevenoaks there’s a good chance that Louisa has cared for somebody you know.
“I feel so lucky. My job isn’t a job, it’s a privilege and every resident I’ve ever cared for has been special.
Sometimes I’ve cared for two generations of the same family, years apart, and I’ve found that deeply moving. I know the families have been touched by that too.”
